We aim to honor the human-animal bond in all we do by working to improve the care of our patients, the experience of our clients, and the health of our team.
In March 2021, we opened a new 10,000-square-foot outpatient services center. The expansion was in response to the growing need for specialty and emergency veterinary care in Middle Tennessee.
We are committed to the growth and development of our team members. NVS provides continuous education to ensure everyone has a clear path to reaching their fullest potential.
There is a real effort to integrate each new team member, by meeting with representatives of each department, and meeting with the administration that shows you all the things you need to know about the workings of your new job. You will actually get employee reviews, and ongoing learning of skills is a goal.
I have never worked with a group that has been so proactive when concerns arise; there is a measured response to daily challenges, and the health of the team is actually part of the mission statement. What is the most unique thing is that the happiness and mental health of the employees is given a consistent effort. From day one, it just felt better here than in my previous workplaces."
- Dr. Julie Stegeman, Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist
Future employees can expect a high-paced work environment where all of their skills will be used.
My favorite thing about being an animal emergency assistant is saving animals and seeing the owners’ happy faces. The compassion and understanding we provide our patients, and their owners, are what make Nashville Veterinary Specialists stand out."
- Arthur Geronimo, ER and ICU Veterinary Assistant
We offer extremely competitive salaries and outstanding benefits, including paid time off; double pay for holidays worked; medical, dental and vision insurance; annual uniform allowance; discounts on pet products and services; cell phone discounts; 401K plan; and more. We offer excellent opportunities for advancement.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of each of these jobs. The employee is frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time; will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms. The employee is often required to lift, carry or handle animals weighing fifty pounds or more.
At Nashville Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency, our first priority is our patients and clients. We also have a broader concern and commitment to being environmentally responsible.
Doing our very best job as medical care providers requires specific resources like disposable medical supplies, powerful medical equipment, and industrial-strength kennel and facility cleaning products. Access to these resources can make for a fully operational and successful clinic, but it can also make for a highly wasteful and polluting facility.
We harness solar energy through our 28-megawatt solar system which supplies nearly 40% of our energy needs. We also have six 4' x 4' skylights to allow natural daylight into our hospital, reducing energy demands.
We have a comprehensive single-stream recycling program to divert paper, plastic, aluminum, packing materials, and glass from landfills. We also compost food scraps to reduce our organic matter trash waste.
We use reclaimed office furnishings such as medicine cabinets, lockers, and office furniture throughout the hospital. We also utilize closed-loop water pumps to reduce water use and Energy Star-compliant appliances.
